The capital of Nabatea Petra
The ancient city of Petra is the most important attraction in Jordan. It is the capital of the ancient Nabataean kingdom, built in the 5-6th centuries BC. It is located in a deep canyon, the width of which varies from 5 to 200 m, and is accessible only through a narrow crevice in the rock.
This young resort on the Red Sea coast is located in the northernmost part of the Gulf of Aqaba, 335 km from Amman.
The Al-Khazneh Temple is renowned worldwide for Steven Spielberg's "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" and is therefore the most popular attraction in the area.
