Named by Travel & Leisure as the best tourist spot in the Middle East in 2020, Caesarea is originally an ancient Herodian port city located on Israel’s Mediterranean Coast about halfway between Tel Aviv and Haifa.

King Herod in building Caesarea (22-9 B.C.) realized his great dream of building a Roman city. It was based on a universal plan, with streets intersecting at right angles, and a division into public and residential areas. The central place was occupied by the Temple of the Emperor Augustus.
