The Shrine of the Báb

The Shrine of the Báb

The main temple of the Bahá'í religion, located in the city of Haifa, where the remains of the Báb, the founder of the Bahá'í faith, are buried.

Bub's remains were buried there on March 21, 1909. The Shrine of the Bab has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Bahá'ís consider the Shrine of the Báb and the surrounding gardens (which are also a World Heritage Site) as a «gift to mankind».

According to tradition, every Bahá'í must make a pilgrimage to this shrine at least once and climb all 1,400 steps of the garden! Ordinary tourists are only allowed to walk down it to the temple.
